We Are In Labor

Last night I joked to Travis. ""Gee, I really hope we don't have this baby tonight because we are not ready!" Sure enough....I woke up at 2:30 in the morning to a huge puddle. My water broke and we are only 36 weeks and 6 days along. Travis rushed and started the truck due to the fact it's -20 degrees here. We went to the High River Hospital and they tested me to confirm whether my water broke. And yes, my water had broke... It's really hard to mistake...But they tested me anyway. They sent me home around 4am. We all slept from 4am-6:30am. I took a shower and Travis got Jaya ready. I have been begging him all morning to take me for breakfast. All I can think about is a large stack of pancakes with strawberries and whip cream. So we will head to the local Smitty's breakfast parlor soon. The hospital wants me to come back between 1pm-2pm if I haven't already started contractions. I am excited but nervous. I am hoping I start contractions on my own. If not, they will induce me this afternoon. That hurts... period..induction stinks...period... Travis is excited...Jaya is tired and cranky. I am hungry...

What To Do On A Day Like Today....

Take pictures of Jaya of course! This is the scene outside our back door. It was clear at 9am this morning and now it is noon and a complete blizzard. We had huge plans tonight. High River has a big Christmas Parade every year that Grannie Peggy suggested we go to. Due to this blizzard it has been cancelled :-( This only seems to happen when you have big plans!

Jaya and I spent from 9am to 11:30am at Parentlink. It's an indoor play center down the street. It's Jaya's most favorite weekly activity now. For moms, there is a support group every Friday from 10am-11am. Today's topic was how to deal with meal time issues. It felt like an AA meeting..."My name is Rimini, and yes, I am a stay-at-home-mom. My daughter is 15 months old and our baby is due in 23 days." It sounds like several mothers have been going to these meetings for years! The basic consensus was, life would be perfect if we could all feed our kids dinner at 4:30pm.
All of our children have melt downs due to hunger and exhaustion at 4:30pm. I thought I was the only one with this problem. Turns out, every mom there has the same one!

Needless to say, Parentlink has thousands of toys for Jaya to play with and several kids she enjoys watching. We will be there a lot this winter...In hopes of avoiding a winter like last year. I think groundhog syndrome is an actual disorder up here in the North Pole.

We Are At 36 Weeks!

I went to my 36th week check up today at 1:30pm. The doctor took my blood pressure and then took out her tape measure. She felt my tummy and informed me that the baby's head was down and in perfect position. She began measuring my tummy and said with surprise. "Oh, the baby has definitely dropped over the past week. Let's make sure to keep them in until at least week 37 (a week from today). If we can keep them in that long the baby should have no problem." So as much as I would like to have the New Years baby, it doesn't look like I am going to make it that long. Starting next Tuesday this little one could come at any time. Travis and I couldn't be more excited for our Christmas present!

We Have A Name!

Whether this baby is a boy or girl we finally have agreed upon names! Last night over dinner the decision was made. Just in time for December! They both are awesome. We couldn't be more excited. Travis believes the baby will be born on the 19th of December (Grandpa Pat's Birthday). (due date is the 27th) The way I feel I am starting to think he may be right... (this once :-)

So She Isn't Perfect All The Time :-)

Please do not try this at home. Note: No one was hurt while filming this video. Jaya has become quite the dare devil around the house. Travis and I are learning that when all we here is "quiet" she probably is up to something she isn't allowed to be doing. Climbing on the stove is not something she is allowed to do!

We've Started Using a Fork

"Stab it and eat it" Dad says... Jaya is getting the hang of it!

15 Months Old Today

Our sweet girl turned 15 months old today. We are so blessed to have her in our lives! We thank God for her every day!
