Christmas in Alberta 2009 Part 2

After all of the festivities at our house, we spent the second half of the day at the Hickey Ranch (aka Bam pa's House). We had a wonderful turkey dinner followed by Grannie's famous pumkin pie!

Christmas in Alberta 2009

Our first Christmas in our new house. My parents and brother spent the holiday with us. What a wonderful way to spend Jesus's birthday!

Our First Family Photo

I had no idea how much trouble it would be to get 4 people color cordinated into one photo. Smiles were optional... We survived...barely! I am not sure when I will ever attempt this again..

At The Mall with Oma

She is a sucker...period...Carnival rides, junk food, shopping, Oma can not resist the Jaya factor. It's ok... We forgive her! After all, we love her very much!

Jaya's First Skating Trip!

We live about two minutes from the local outdoor skate park. Travs, Ian, Dad, and I took Jaya out to skate. She loved it!

2 Weeks Old

Elynn practically sleeps through the night, barely cries, and loves to be held. Here are a few pics at 2 weeks old. She now weighs 6 pounds 6 ounces.

Welcome Elynn Elizabeth Hickey

Our new addition decided to show up a little early. What a wonderful early Christmas surprise!!! Elynn was born Monday, December 7th at 10:58pm. Weighing 5 pounds 13 oz and 19 inches long. I was induced at 5:00pm and she was born at 10:58pm later that night. Her birth was quite eventful. Around 8pm that night Travis came down with the stomache flu. Between trying to be a comfort to me and throwing up, I guarantee it will be a night he will never forget. I have given up all hope on a natural birth! Forget that, if they have drugs around I want them! I had a temporary epideral called a "one shot." It was great! The pain became to much and I kindly let them know! Ok...so maybe not kindly at all!

Elynn let out a faint cry when she came out. The handed her to me and I cried. She was perfect! I had prayed for a little sister for Jaya and God answered my prayer. I am praying that someday they will be the best of friends! Travis cut the cord and we were taken to a new room.

Later that night Travis had to leave due to illness and Elynn and I spent the night at the High River Hospital. We spent the following day there with Travis, Jaya, Grandpa Pat, Kim, Monica, Tanya, and Lee for visitors.

By Wednesday afternoon they released us to go home. That old saying "It's not the size of the dog, but the size of the fight in the dog that counts, " perfectly describes our new little addition. She is sooooooooo small (3 weeks early) but she is strong. I have a hard time getting a diaper on her! She is quiet and sweet so far. Barely ever crying but loves to grunt late at night when she is hungry. Jaya is adapting to her new life of being a big sister well. She kisses Elynn on the forhead every chance she gets. Having Grandpa Joe and Oma here is making the adjustment easier as well!

Here are a few pics from her birth.....
